The Sharing Knife: Legacy (book 2) by Lois McMaster Bujold

What is this?! Lois McMaster Bujold all of a sudden starts peppering her books with sex scenes? Oh, wait a second - that's not what I expect from the woman who brought us the excellent Miles Vorkosigan military-science-fiction series. But I forgot -she has decided she's bored with Miles and now she's writing this new fantasy series, which I guess is okay as fantasy series go, but it's NOT a Miles Vorkosigan novel!

Leaving the sex scenes aside, I did find this book kind of ho-hum, especially for a Bujold. It was a lot of nothing happening. I'll probably read the third one eventually just because it's a Bujold, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it. On the "sorta good news" front, though, she's supposedly working on a new Miles book, but we're not going to see it until 2009 at least.

YAY for a new Miles book!
I agree, fantasy doesn't seem to be her thing. I read the first and it was ok. I've got nothing against sex scene if they belong in the book AND the rest of the plot and characters are worth reading, but too many authors are just sticking them in the middle of mediocre books. Fantasy, Horror, whatever.
